Is Reggie Bush a bust? It’s hard to say. He’s fantasy gold for sure.

From the day Bush was drafted, every head outside its fundament knew he was a fantasy sure thing in PPR leagues. Bush’s extreme involvement in New Orleans offense meant he avoids the droughts of even marquee rushers (Adrian Peterson anyone?), but his special teams prowess and hefty touches rushing and receiving means he has running back like point spikes.

Somehow, the real world, or at the least the perceived world, found its way into fantasy and Bush’s stock dropped. Bush should have been a first round pick, for all the above and all his potential. Minimum, he should have been picked among the top receivers. Instead, a highlight reel hit by Sheldon Brown and an embarrassing YPC knocked him down publicly, among analyst and that translated to fantasy boards. Not wise.

The real question though, outside his obvious fantasy prowess and his dubious metrics is–Is Reggie Bush a good football player? I think the answer is yes, and I think it comes down to his impact between the numbers. Bush spreads defenses vertically and horizontally. He forces attention and creates matchup problems as a hard to match against rusher/receiver hybrid. And whatever he becomes as a running back, he’s a sensational receiver and special teams player.
